Meet the human behind the monkey
Curious about systems. Serious about the work. Delighted by a very particular monkey.
Why Golden Monkey?
Golden snub-nosed monkeys are my favorite animals. I love their expressive faces, their ridiculous charm and the way communal care makes the troop bigger than any one individual. That is a good reminder of what I enjoy about engineering: people sharing expertise and helping each other do better work.
The laboratory scene is an original AI-generated illustration. Golden-monkey scientists, elaborate holographic assistants and wonderfully excessive research equipment are intentional. I want this website to show that a human with a sense of humor is directing the work.
Clear outcomes, honest feedback
I bring about a decade of overall IT experience, including three years of professional data engineering and hands-on AI-assisted engineering since 2022. My work at Resultant supported state public-health and human-services programs. Earlier, I served seven years in the U.S. Army as a Satellite Communications Systems Operator-Maintainer.
I enjoy working autonomously toward a clear outcome, with explicit constraints and constructive review. Cross-functional teams are particularly rewarding: I can learn from other specialties and contribute my own. When a problem appears, I want us to understand it and fix it together.
Simulations, curiosity and craft
Outside client work, I enjoy building games and simulations. They give me a place to explore how small rules produce complicated behavior, and how to make that behavior understandable to the person using the system.
Golden Monkey Research and Development LLC is my Maryland company. Right now, this website primarily supports my search for an individual contributor role in data, AI or cloud engineering.
